  • For current tuition information, click here.
  • Students must be 4 by September 1st and fully potty trained to join our Young 5’s program.
  • We go on fun field trips to enrich our curriculum and learn with hands-on experiences! We go to various places like the farm, apple orchard, DNR Outdoor Adventure center, and the zoo.
  • Our Young 5’s program is a great transition to getting students ready for Kindergarten the following year.
  • Through one-on-one, small group, and whole group activities, students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities with the emphasis based on social development, following directions, and developing good academic habits.
  • Students are introduced to the alphabet and phonetic sounds of each letter. There are new themes that are focused on each week while exposing the children to an interest and love of learning.
  • We offer Young 5’s to our younger Cardinals 5 days a week. They may come half day (7:45 A.M. – 11:00 A.M.) or full day (7:45 A.M. – 3:00 P.M.).

A Typical Day in Young 5’s at SM/MCA

A typical day in Young 5’s starts with a morning work activity or a hands-on manipulative activity! Then the older students in our school lead us with a morning prayer and pledge over the sound system. After, we come together at the carpet for circle time and dance! We take a bathroom break, have snack, and then get some free choice time so our imaginations can blossom! We clean up and come back together for a classroom Literacy lesson and a Religion lesson. We then get small group work time while we work on our morning centers. After that we go to recess together before our half-day friends leave for the day. In the afternoon, we have lunch and then quiet time. After quiet time, we have snack and have another Literacy lesson. We then practice our math skills with IXL and/or centers. We have indoor free choice while we begin to pack up for the day, and once all packed, take an afternoon recess until dismissal.
