A Typical Day in Third Grade at SM/MCA

Our morning begins with a math fact practice and a journaling exercise. We then move on to Writer’s Workshop time. Our morning continues with Math and the remainder of our ELA block. We have morning snack time during which I generally read aloud to the class. We start our afternoon with DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) time. Our afternoons consist of Religion, Social Studies and Science time. We also usually use the afternoons as our time to work on curriculum based projects such as creating models of homesteads or Religion posters. These projects are great ways for students to practice hands-on learning and to show off their creativity! We utilize chromebooks for final drafts of writing, to do research for projects, and practice math with IXL and Prodigy sites.
