A Typical Day in Kindergarten at St. Mary/McCormick
A typical day in Kindergarten starts with morning work and moves into calendar time/morning meeting. We try to guess what is in the mystery box that a special friend gets to bring and do some quick phonemic awareness activities. After snack and free play time, we spend the rest of our morning on language arts. After outside recess, when able, we go to our special class of the day (Spanish, music, gym, art, library, or computers.) After lunch we read aloud 2 chapters from our chapter book then begin math lessons. After math, we work on science or social studies, have another snack and some free play time. We end our day with religion.
- Students must be 5 by September 1st to join our Kindergarten class.
- We go on fun field trips that enhance our learning!
- We attend 6 special classes each week (Spanish, gym, art, library, computers, and music)
- A special person each day is chosen to bring in the mystery box with a special item inside. We take turns guessing what is inside!
